Eats: Cumulus Inc

The infamous Lemoncurd Madeleines.

There was a slight crunch on the outside and the lemoncurd were oozing out from the inside.
It was rather expensive and the fillings were not filled all the way through; in fact the fillings were only found in quarter parts of the madeleines.

Peanut Butter Ice Cream, Chocolate Cake & Caramel

This dish is an absolutely disaster.

1) The peanut butter ice cream was so light you can barely taste anything in it and the stingy amount of peanuts given was a disappointment.

2) Chocolate cake was burnt through the entire top part. Smelt and tasted burnt. The top bits were bitter so is the rest of the cake. Worst cake I have tasted in my entire life.

3) Caramel was also bitter. No coffee was mentioned on the menu. The caramel tasted like a shot of bitter coffee. Gross!

4) This dish was AUD$16. What a rip off.

Overall, our experience at Cumulus Inc was a joke. The service was horrid. We were not greeted even though we clearly walked pass the bar. Was not seated, had to grab our own seats. We were seated for 20+ minutes and no one came to our table. (Bear in mind we were there at 4pm so it isn't exactly lunch/dinner rush time.) When we finally got a hold of this waiter, he was rude, insincere and was an absolute tool. The deserts was a failure in my book.

You'll be sure we won't be heading back to this cafe/bar ever again.

PurePact: Watermint Polishing Spray

The Good Bits:

  • Adds shine/glossy finish to the hair
  • Minimizes flyaways and drying end bits (read more below)
  • Weightless, much like spraying water onto the hair
  • Organic haircare, Contains 100% pure essential oils.
  • Has UV protection in it.
  • Star ingredients: Essential oils like lemon, peppermint, spearmint + grapeseed extract & lemon peel.
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Reasonable priced.

The Bad Bits:

  • Not widely available but I do know that this salon in Prahran stocks it.
  • The mints in this hairspray reminds me of tigerbalm.
  • Personally, I would not recommend this for dry hair especially near the root area. (Especially for those who have dark roots, the slightly hint of oil = greasy roots even for freshly shampooed hair.)

I'd usually use this on towel-dried hair and so far I am loving how glossy it makes my hair look.

Additionally, I'd use this to refresh and massage in the end drying bits of my hair throughout the day whenever is needed. Works really well for office workers/winter time.

It may appear greasy/oily at first (because this polishing spray is heavily packed with essential oils!) but within a few seconds of gentle massaging the end bits of my long hair with just a few spray and the ends of my hair looks instantly healthy and none drying.

Clinique: Blushing Blush Powder Blush

The Good Bits:

  • Silky power that glides onto the cheeks effortlessly.
  • Medium pigmented hence careful and moderate application required. A little goes a long way.
  • Oil free
  • Good selection of power blush colour
  • Pretty defining for the cheeks
  • Long lasting
  • Suitable for sensitive skin
  • Looks very natural, it brings out the colour on your face, if done right.

The Bad Bits:
  • Packaging looks too generic.

Me love the shade #innocent peach. As always, toss the brush that comes with it and use a proper blush/sculpting brush instead for the perfect blushing cheeks. I used this brush that comes with the blush as a keyboard cleaning brush.

Lanolips: 101 Ointment

The Good Bits:

  • Extremely thick in texture. Similar to Dr.Lipp's Nipple balm.
  • Perfect for winter drying lips.
  • Yellowish colour that rubs off clear.
  • A little goes a long way for moisturising the lips.
  • Fairly long lasting, a couple of hours.
  • 100% natural. Colour and fragrance free.
  • Star ingredient: Lanolin
  • Inexpensive $17.95
  • Its multipurpose. Some other ways to use: smooth over unruly brows, cuticles, assist in wound healing, newborn lips, etc.

The Bad Bits:

  • I am not a fan of tube lip ointment/glosses.

You can read more about Lanolips in their website here. This lip ointment will definitely replace my Dr.Lipp's addiction simply because the results are pretty darn similar yet there's a huge difference in pricing.

Fantastic overall ointment balm and I like knowing that this ointment is chock full of the expensive ingredient - Lanolin as stated in their website. In fact, its world's first medical grade lanolin combined in this ointment, all that and this is made in Australia too. Yay!

Movie: Bruno

Two words: simply genius.

As always, Sacha Baron Cohen brought to the table a controversial, cringe worthy and hilarious movie. Last night, we were able to catch its Australia's premiere and we totally loved it. We were laughing from the very beginning to the end and the movie went pass so quick; we wanted more.

If you think Borat was full on; be prepare for Bruno because its full frontal, vulgar and politically incorrect. However, Bruno somehow made it all watchable and hilarious.

No doubt this movie and Bruno himself is going to be viral and plenty of people will start showing up in Bruno inspired outfits in parties and whatnot.

Bruno will be out in cinemas this Thursday onwards. Run, don't walk.

Dermalogica: Daylight Defense Super Sensitive FaceBlock SPF30

The Good Bits:

  • SPF30 faceblock that has both UVA & UVB protection
  • Free of chemical sunscreen, great for sensitive skin.
  • Star ingredients: Lavender, Green Tea, Licorice & mineral UV-blockers Titanium Dioxide + Zinc Oxide
  • No artificial colour/fragrance
  • Good squeeze bottle packaging
  • White thick liquid texture.
  • No white cast leftover after applying liberally all over the face & neck area.
  • I applied this near/around eye area and so far so good. No bad reaction whatsoever.
  • Does not affect my daily makeup routine. Sits well under my makeup.
  • Does not break me out

The Bad Bits:
  • Expensive for such a small bottle of sunscreen
  • Because of its thick texture; this requires time to properly smooth/massage it into the face.
  • Needs sometime for absorption and may leave a slight greasy finish but the greasiness is very minimal though.

Overall, I love this sunscreen. Knowing that it has SPF30 protection for my face and skin is a good start. I would consider to repurchase this faceblock once it runs out. The bottle packaging is so cute and practical. My only concern is that it is on the expensive side especially AUD60+ for 50ml of sunscreen is pretty insane. At this rate, I think one bottle might only last me one and a half month or so. Other than the price, I am pretty satisfied with this faceblock. One of the best I've tried so far.

Fun facts:

It contains:

• Hyaluronic Acid holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water for optimal hydration.
• Dimethicone (Silicones) protects and reinforces barrier lipids, which are often compromised in sensitized skin conditions.

Excited for tonight

Catch the trailer here and don't forget Bruno's out this Thursday in the cinemas.

Eats: Misty's Diners

Naked Dog

This naked dog is definitely my favorite hot dog and by far the best in Melbourne. The bun is always warm, soft and fluffy. The mustard and tomato sauce was just right and the sausage is without skin and chunky. The cheese is melted and oozing like how a good dog should be.

Fish & Chips (New on the menu)

The fish and chips is just plain genius. The fish was very cunky and the chips were so generous. Every single chips were thin and crunchy in every sides and was topped with this herby salt. The sauce that came with it was creamy and was packed with a creamy flavor hit as well.

All in all , we love Misty's Diner and we are almost always back for their dogs and fish & chips. They have such a huge impressive menu, reasonable pricing and very tasty food.
